London Chinatown Moon Festival 2015
It has been an eventful week, some of you may have experienced the blood moon arising in the sky with the eclipse as well. For me, I was pretty much fast asleep so I unfortunately I didn't get to be present for the showing. However, last Sunday I celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with my family, otherwise known as the Moon Festival.
Usually for the Moon Festival, I think the most important aspect of it has to be the food, you can't have a Moon Festival without tasting some moon cakes as well. From my past experiences of the Moon Festival, I've had many memorable childhood experiences - It's incredibly nostalgic. I used to perform for the Moon Festival in my Vietnamese community, I also remember joining the other kids walking around with my lanterns lit for the festival.
For this year, I went to celebrate the Moon Festival in Chinatown, London with my uncle, auntie and my two cousins. There was an event happening at the time which included dances, singing performances as well as a moon cake demonstration (we were taught on how to make moon cakes by professionals). Chinatown already is constantly busy, home to many Asian restaurants as well as personal favourite of mine, bubble tea stores.
During the time, I collected lots of pictures of stage performances as well as a few scenery pictures of the decorations around Chinatown which had been placed specifically for the Moon Festival:
Also, during the event I spent quite a lot of time recording the performances as well as the moon cake demonstration. I apologise for any shakiness as the filming was amateur and it was difficult at times due to my height... I'm only 5ft 3 (160cm)... Life struggles...
