Chapter 1.3: Stereotypes: Conclusion

Thus, we've reached the conclusion of this topic of stereotypes. Stereotypes are something which I believed would start to disappear as the years went by as people became to realise the reality of making stereotypes amongst people. It's understandable at times that when you don't know how a person may be you may form your opinions upon stereotypes, however, it shouldn't be the concluding factor of how you think of a person. Everyone is different, and stereotypes shouldn't the reason you should misjudge a person.

Regarding stereotypes in the media of today, I want to highlight something as I'm a media student. With the media that we are exhibited to today, I would agree that Asian representation has grown very far from how it used to be. Though stereotypes still exist in the characters that Asians are cast in, there is definitely more representation of Asians in a series of main roles.

I hope that in the future, Asians will no longer be given roles which are just based on the stereotypes they are associated with. We are making our movements in the media industry as we proceed to gather more leading roles, but there is still the consequence in which Asians are obtaining roles stereotypical of their ethnic background.

From these experience posts, I hope that I have to come to enlighten you of the experiences that I've had to deal with. Whether you can relate or come to understand the experiences, I hope that you can open your mind to the concept of stereotypes, and inform others to avoid judgement with stereotypes.

Thank you for reading.
